Vow Renewal Invitations

It's been a busy couple of months here for us. We spent some time in Minnesota getting things ready for our wedding next Summer, saw some friends and family, came home with an uneasy feeling as tragedy had struck a family that I work with and really involved in our community, and now before you know it school is starting soon! I've been back working in my classroom the past few days already trying to make sure that I have things the way I want them before we have our in-service days.

I was asked by a close friend of mine if I would make some invitations for her for her parent's 30th anniversary vow renewal coming up in September. I thought I had an idea in my mind of what I was going to make them look like when I sat down but when I got started they just weren't turning out like I had hoped. Back to the drawing board I went and came up with this!

Isn't it cute? I think so and I really hope they like them.

I used Bordering Blue 12x12 cardstock
to make the base of the card. All the layers are done with More Mustard, Ridinghood Red, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White paper. I used a Texturz Plate from the Background 1 set with my Big Shot to create the embossing on the front. On the inside I used the large stamp from the Brocade Motifs stamp set inked with versamark on the pocket. I also stamped that same stamp on the bottom left corner of the envelopes (not pictured) using More Mustard ink. Other accessories I used are the Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" punch, and the 1 1/4" punch. The invitation and accommodations and rsvp card were all printed on my computer and cut to fit.

Happy 4th of July....

A day late I know but I have a really good reason this time! Tom came home from work on Friday morning complaining of belly pain. We both figured it was just a gassy feeling or something that he ate that was upsetting him. He slept and laid in bed all day and night until he had to go to work at 2am Saturday morning. He got up and said that he still wasn't feeling well but was going to go in to work anyway. He came home from work on Saturday morning around 10 (after messaging me a few times on his break saying he still didn't feel good) and said that the pain had moved to his right side. I figured we should take him in to Salt Lake (2 hours away by car) to get him checked out. We got to the ER and were immediately put in to a room. After taking his vitals they gave him some pain meds and some contrast "cocktail" to drink so they could to a CT. After waiting 2 hours for the contrast to make it though his system they finally did a CT. The surgeon came to see us within 15 to 20 minutes of him being back in the room and he had to have an emergency appendectomy. Afterwards the surgeon said he was really lucky that he didn't wait any longer. His appendix had not burst yet but if we would have waited much longer it may have. We spent Saturday and Sunday night in the hospital and finally got to come home today. Tom is feeling much better and aside from being sore from his incisions is moving around pretty well.
I did, however, have a card prepared to show for the 4th of July. I cased it from the new Idea Book and Catalog.
I used the colors Soft Suede, Night of Navy, Whisper White, and Cherry Cobbler. I just love that new red! It's so nice and dark. I used a star stamp from an old retired set - can't remember the name right now. The thank you phrase is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I finished it off with some paper piercing. I forgot to put the little clip on it like in the catalog but I think it still looks alright without it :)

Hope you all had a fun and safe 4th of July!

It's time to bid some of our current colors a fond farewell in July when the new Idea Book and Catalog comes out. This also means that there will be new color collections, new colors, and also we get to welcome back some of our retired in colors.

Let's start with the Retiring Colors. Here is a list of all the colors that will be no longer available after June 30th. I encourage you to stock up on any of your favorites before they are gone.

Is it spring yet?

Wow it's been a while. Sorry for the absence. No excuses other than "life happens". Here is a card I made a few weekends ago. I just love this bunny stamp! As soon as I saw it in the Spring Mini catalog I knew I had to have it and I knew I wanted to emboss it. It reminds me of when I was in elementary school and we sold the chocolate and white chocolate bunnies for a fundraiser for the school. Every year the Easter Bunny managed to buy one for me and my sister and put them in our Easter baskets. That's where they would sit for a few days after Easter and then would go in to the freezer where they would live until they had been nibbled or broken to bits and were finished.

Paper: Shades of Spring DSP, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Whisper White
Ink: Versamark, Chocolate Chip
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Chocolate Bunny
Accessories: 5/8" So Saffron Grosgrain, White Satin, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch

Just a few more days until the new Occasions Mini and the Sale-A-Bration catalogs go live! There are so many new products to choose from. The best part of this time is that not only are there new designs of stamps, paper, and accessories but for every $50 you spend (from the mini or the regular Idea Book and Catalog combined) you get to choose a FREE item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog! The Sale-A-Bration catalog has 4 new stamp sets - you get to choose clear mount or wood mount, a new punch, and a 72 sheet 6x6 pad of Designer Paper that coordinates with one of the stamp sets in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. What a great deal and who doesn't love FREE product!?
Some of the new things in the Occasions Mini Catalog are:

Happy New Year!

Wow it's 2010! It wasn't too long ago that this year seemed far far away! With the turning of a new year I have started on a few resolutions, as I'm sure many of you have. One of my resolutions is to be a better blogger so to kick off the new year right I have a new card for you today. This is another birthday card that I made a few days ago while working on reloading my card "stash".
Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes, Teeny Tiny Wishes Paper: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, More mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Bordering Blue DSP Ink: Basic Black, Bordering Blue, Old Olive, More Mustard, Regal Rose Accessories: Chocolate Twill, Library Clip, White Gel Pen, "Frosting Mix" (Watch for a technique class on that one.) Tombow glue

To go along with restocking my card stash I will be doing a class near the end of the month to make a Card Keeper box to help myself and others stay more organized and to help actually remember to send out the cards that I make (yet another resolution of mine). Look for more information on that class to come soon. Also check my Stampin' Up! website for more class information or to place an order.

P.S. Sale-a-bration and the new Occasions Mini go live on Tuesday, January 5th. If you do not already have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator please contact me to get your free Mini and Sale-a-bration catalogs. If you already have a Demonstrator please contact them for your catalogs.
