Technique Tuesday is tomorrow. I don't think I'll have a very big turn out due to it being the end of the school year and such so I have a special surprise for those who are attending.... It's going to be a 3-fer night! Three techniques for the price of one! The techniques that I will be showing are Textures Ink Wash, Quilted Top Note Die, and Faux wood grain. It should be a fun time!! I'll post pics after it's all done.

So I almost forgot that this was VSN weekend over at Split Coast. Not that anyone I know really cares, but I enjoy it and it's one weekend every three months that I just get to play and create. Anyway.. I decided to write a few posts for the next couple of days while I was playing so that 1. I would have a few posts ;) 2. I wouldn't' have to try to remember all the ingredients for the cards :)
Here is my first creation of the evening.
The challenge was to make a non-traditional wedding card. My friend Cheryl got married this past Halloween and this card looks similar to the one that I made for her. Her wedding was by no means Halloween themed but I still had to give her a little bit of crap for having a wedding on Halloween :) (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
Ingredients: Inks- Versamark, Basic Black. Paper- Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie. Stamps- Congrats, Booglie Eyes. Accessories - Cuttle Bug Embossing Folder, Dazzling Diamonds, White EP, 3/8" white Taffeta Ribbon.

Here is the next card that I made. The challenge was to only use red and black and a neutral of white. It's pretty simple and I still think it's missing something on the top but I just haven't figured out what it is yet... Maybe it will come to me later....
Ingredients: Inks- Basic Black, Real Red. Paper- Basic Black, Whisper White, Jackpot DSP. Stamps- Card Games. Accessories- Hodge Podge Hardware.

Here is the last card that I made for the evening. The challenge was to use only the colors so saffron, creamy caramel, and close to cocoa. Also there had to be some kind of musical symbol in the card. I don't really have too many stamp sets that have a musical theme to them so I cam up with this one....
Ingredients: Inks- Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Basic Black, Bordering Blue, Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun. Paper- Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Whisper White, Creamy Caramel. Stamps- Mini Mates, Birthday Beauty. Acessories - White gel Pen, Scallop Edge Punch.
Thanks for looking :)

Happy birthday to you.....
Well I had a request from my mom to make some more birthday cards for her card tin so this weekend I played a little bit. Some of the cards are left over from a few weeks ago as well.

Ingredients: Paper- taken with teal, close to cocoa, certainly celery. Ink- taken with teal, close to cocoa, certainly celery. Stamps- Big Bold Birthday.

This card was made for our local movie theater. We were able to take our first grade and Kinder students who had met their reading goal this school year to go see Horton Hears a Who last Friday. I thought it would be nice to send the theater a card after all the kids signed it. The pic is really dark because I was trying to take the picture quick before heading to bed last night.
Ingredients: Paper - Whisper white, basic black, real red. Ink- basic black, blush blossom, creamy caramel, chocolate chip, pretty in pink, pixie pink, rose red, regal rose, bordering blue, lovely lilac, elegant eggplant. Stamps - all in the family, much appreciated. Accessories- cutter kit, spiral punch.

Ingredients: Paper - certainly celery, rose red, so saffron, bashful blue, Cutie Pie DSP. Ink- Bashful blue. Accessories- bashful blue 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, white gel pen, corner rounder, round tab punch, three flower punch. Stamps- Hugs & Wishes.

I *heart* my UPS man!
So after a long day at work I came home to my UPS man dropping off two Stampin' Up! boxes at my door. I knew immediately what they were! MY BIG SHOT and other accessories that I had ordered. I can't wait to use them tomorrow!! Look for some creations in the near future!

Well it's been a long time....
Sorry I haven't updated this sooner. Things have been crazy around here the past few weeks. Tom and I went on a fabulous trip over spring break to San Diego. I had never been to there before... much less ever been to California before. The morning we left it was snowing in Salt Lake so it was nice to step off the plane in to sunny weather.
Anywho, on to some of my creations! Here are some things that I put together for Kim's workshop almost a
month ago.

Here are the descriptions from left to right:
Hostess Basket: Nugget holder (holds 7 I think) made with Rainbow Sherbet Designer Series Paper, a cardstock ring made with all the SU colors of cardstock including the neutrals and the in colors, a post it note holder complete with matching pen, and some easter card candy using the stamp set A Good Egg and the entire soft subtles color family.
Make and Take: Almost Amethyst, Designer Dots DSP, Scallop Edge Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon, Sweet Stems, Old Olive marker, Pink Pirouette ink.
Demo Card: Circle punches- 1 3/8, 1 1/4, 1/2, Colluzle, Hoppy Easter Stamp Set, Apricot Appeal, Designer Series paper pack (retired last year I believe).
I'll have some more cards to post after this weekend hopefully. I have a few swaps going on and also a recipe tin class coming up in a few weeks that I will be working on.
Ciao!

Thank You's and Technique Tuesday

This card was made for my friend Cheryl. She is having her second baby in about a week and a half. She had asked me to make her some thank you cards for the gifts she has been receiving. I love the Purely Pomegranate color with the groovy guava and have a ton of both colors left over still. You know, when the new In Colors come out and you're wondering how you could ever part with the old ones so you buy paper and ribbon so you can keep using it long after it's gone because you just don't know if you'll like the new colors the same way... well that's what happened here. I think I have a full paper pack in all of the old (2008) in colors. I like using it when I'm just making something for myself or for others who aren't that in to stamping. Someday it will be gone... but probably not for a very very long time. I think I even have In Colors from 2 years ago still... sad, I know :)
Ingredients: Stamps: Swell News, In the Spotlight. Paper: purely pomegranate, whisper white, groovy guava, so saffron, so saffron dsp. Ink: purely pomegranate, basic black, groovy guava. Accessories: purely pomegranate double stitched grosgrain ribbon, white satin ribbon, tag punch, paper piercer.
Anyway last night was my third Technique Tuesday class. We did the melted background technique. It's a pretty easy technique and would be easy to use if you were mass producing cards. This was also the first time I used the Pinch Proof stamp set. I had seen it in the catalog and kept thinking it's cute but I don't know if I need it. Then I saw this project on Dawn's website and thought it was totally cute! I ordered the set that night to use for my class.

Ingredients: Stamps: Just Buzzin By, Pinch Proof. Paper: green galore, basic black, whisper white, baja breeze. Ink: summer sun, old olive, green galore, basic black. Accessories: black 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, circle punch, scallop circle punch, Crayola Crayons - silver, pacific blue, wild blue yonder, granny smith apple, screamin green, green, white gel pen.

With spring comes.... melting!
In honor of spring (I have a serious case of spring fever) my next Technique Tuesday Class is featuring the melted background technique. I had first heard of this technique a few weeks ago while participating in the last Virtual Stamp Night on Splitcoast. I fell in love with this technique right away. Here is the card that I made for the challenge.
I used Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White paper, Crayola Pacific Blue, Wild Blue Yonder, and Silver crayons, Pacific Point, Summer Sun and Old Olive ink, and the Just Buzzin By and Heartfelt Thanks stamp sets. I finished it off with a little 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon.
I just love this card! It's so cute and simple!
After my workshop on Tuesday I will post the card we made. I've got a lot of creating and card making to do this weekend. As of right now I have a welcome new baby gift to make, 40 or so baby shower invites, cutting and prep for my technique class and two workshops and then hostess gifts, door prizes, and some thank you cards to make. It's going to be a busy weekend!

Challange Yourself!
So this weekend was another VSN weekend over at splitcoast. I have had it marked on my calendar for some time. I love having these challenge weekends to just sit and create. I also started something new with the challenges this year. I sit down with a theme in mind and try to make all my cards to go with that theme while still following the rules of the challenges. In January I did the VSN mini challenge and knew ahead of time that I wanted to get my Valentine Cards done. All but 2 or 3 cards ended up being valentines and were sent out. This weekend I sat down with the thought that all my cards would be birthday cards ( you can never have too many of those right?) and or thank you cards. I didn't get many cards done today since I had to teach this morning until noon and yesterday was Tom's birthday so I didn't get any done last night either. I counted and if I finish all the challenges tomorrow that
would be 12 more that I would need to complete, upload, and post before the 8:00 deadline tomorrow night... We'll see how much I get done while still picking up the house and doing laundry. Anyway here are a few of the cards that I made today. Leave some love if you're out there!
The challenge for this card was to use an older stamp or one that you haven't used in a long time. I think that I go this Stampin' Up! stamp when I was still in high school when I went to a workshop with my mom before I really even got in to stamping.
Ingredients: Stamps: Flutterbys, Hugs and Wishes. Paper: soft sky, afternoon tea designer series paper. Ink: soft sky, close to cocoa, versamark. Accessories: white ep, 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon

This card was made for a challenge to use inchies. I have never consciously used inchies before. It was good to learn a new technique.
Ingredients: Stamps: Party Animals. Paper: regal rose, kiwi kiss, tangerine tango, whisper white. Ink: close to cocoa, tangerine tango, kiwi kiss, so saffron, regal rose. Accessories: 5/8" so saffron grosgrain ribbon.
The challenge for this card was "celebrity crush". We were to design a card that was inspired by a celebrity. I chose Denis Leary in his role on Rescue Me. I love that show! And who could resist a man in uniform?? On the show he also has a bad boy side to him which is also kind of cute ;). I also love this image because I have several family members who are firefighters.
Ingredients: Stamps: Fire Brigade, Heartfelt Thanks. Paper: basic black, real red, whisper white. Ink: basic black, basic gray, versamark. Accessories: 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon, white ep.
Well I think that's enough for now.... I'll try to post more tomorrow or later on this week!

Bee Mine

I saw this set in the new Idea Book and Catalog and just HAD to have it! I just love the little bees in this set. They are so cute! It also reminds me of my friend Bonny who loves bees.
Recipe: Stamps- Just Buzzin' ByPaper - sahara sand, whisper white, more mustard, chocolate chip, more mustard dsp. Ink-chocolate chip, more mustard. Acessories - 1/4" chocolate poly twill ribbon, 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon, dazzling diamonds.

This next card is one of the valentines that I made for the SCS VSN Mini this past weekend. The challenge for this card was to use the burnt batik embossing technique. This was the first time I tried this technique and I'm not sure if it turned out exactly right but it's pretty cute none the less!
Recipe: Stamps- Happy Heart Day, Wow Flowers. Paper - whisper white, real red. Ink - pink passion, real red, close to cocoa. Acessories - chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, pretties kit brad.

1st Ever Technique Tuesday

Tonight was my first Technique Tuesday class. It went pretty well if I do say so myself. The technique for tonight was scratch n 'sniff cards. Everyone really liked the technique and thought it was pretty cool. I showed my "students" how to make lemon scented embossing powder and then we used it to make the scratch n 'sniff element for our technique card. We then made a birthday card using the technique and strawberry scented embossing powder. Here is the card that we made using our technique. Stay tuned the next few days to see some Valentine's Day cards that I was working on this weekend.
Recipe: Paper- pretty in pink, cameo coral, whisper white, raspberry tart designer series paper. Ink - Versamark, cameo coral, kiwi kiss. Accessories - dimensionals, 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon, strawberry scented embossing powder.
